BTT asked: Have you ever bought a book, started reading it and then realised you have already read it? If so, how far did you get? (Can you tell this happened to me for the first time ever this week!?!) And–did you keep reading?
My answer: I can’t remember this ever happening to me. It’s more likely that I’ll come across a book I’d forgotten I read but, after hearing about it, it jogs my memory. I think that’s because I didn’t start keeping track of the books I read until a few years ago. So all the books I read when I was younger are unaccounted for. Occasionally I’ll encounter one and add it to my Goodreads list. But so far I haven’t actually bought or checked one out from the library and completely forgotten I’d read it.
Why does that happen though? Is it because some people have read so much that all books start blending together? Or is it because these books were read so long ago that it’s hard to remember them? I have picked up a book I know I’ve never read before and had deja vu while reading certain parts. I’m not sure how to explain that!
