Last week during Book Blogger Appreciation Week bloggers were asked to recommend a book they thought wasn’t getting enough appreciation or recognition. Almost 90 people weighed in with over 100 books. I’ve compiled most of them here for any interested readers who don’t have time to go through the entire list. I’ve included most of the titles mentioned unless they were children’s books or a post mentioned an author and I didn’t want to link every book that author has written.
The books are broken down into categories. Just click the picture and you’ll be taken to Goodreads to find out more about each book.
Young Adult Science Fiction/Fantasy

I hope you’ve found this post helpful and maybe even found a new (or new to you) book to read. If you’re interested in Book Blogger Appreciation Week, check out their website or see last week’s posts about it.
And what underappreciated book would you recommend? What authors or books do you love that no one seems to have heard about?

Delighted to see my book on this list. Thank you very much!
I can second Collins’s Echolocation–definitely pick that one up! However, I was surprised to see Girl With the Dragon Tattoo included. It’s an international bestseller with two movie versions–hardly what I would consider “underappreciated.” I’d add M.T. Anderson’s excellent book Feed to the YA sci-fi and fantasy.
Thanks for the extra recommendation! There were a few on here I thought were pretty popular as well…maybe one person in the world hasn’t heard of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo!
Thanks for including my picks! One thing though — The Unreal Life of Sergey Nabokov is a novel, based on the real person.
You’re welcome! Thanks for the correction regarding Unreal Life of Sergey Nabokov, I’ll switch it to the historical fiction section.
Wow, this is awesome! I agree with what samcgill said below — some of these are not especially underappreciated. I saw a million people talking about The Fault In Our Stars, for example
