Booking Through Thursday: Present Tense

Booking Through ThursdayBTT asked: Any books you’re particularly hoping to be gifted this year? Any that you’re giving as presents this holiday season?

My answer: I don’t have any books on my wishlist this year because I don’t really buy books and so don’t ask others to buy them for me.  There are a few coming out in 2013 that I’m really looking forward to reading and it’d be amazing if they were under the tree for me to read immediately.  But they won’t be out in time for Christmas so that’s not a possibility.

As far as giving books as presents, I’m giving two, one to my mom and another to my grandmother.
Book cover of Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind by Ellen F. BrownFor my grandmother it’s going to be Margaret Mitchell’s Gone with the Wind: A Bestseller’s Odyssey from Atlanta to Hollywood by Ellen F. Brown.  She’s a fan of old Hollywood and likes this film so I thought she’d find it interesting to read the behind the scenes about how it made it to the big screen.
Book cover of The World of Downton Abbey by Jessica and Julian FellowesAnd for my mom it’s a copy of The World of Downton Abbey by Jessica and Julian Fellowes. She’s a huge fan of the show so I thought this would be the perfect book to browse through and read more about it.  I actually just got this from the library and wrapped it for her because I doubt she’ll be re-reading it.

What books are you hoping to get for Christmas?  Which ones are you giving?

  1. Those are terrific books to give, especially when the receiver loves the subject.
