I didn’t specifically ask for any books for Christmas this year. But my boyfriend was in India over the holidays and I asked him to bring me back some books if he saw anything unique. I was really interested to discover a new author or book that isn’t well known in the US. Here’s what he brought back for me:
Savor: Mindful Eating, Mindful Life by Thich Nhat Hanh and Lillian Cheung: Two of my favorite topics are spirituality and health. This book addresses eating from a more mindful perspective and is right up my alley. I started reading it immediately and am almost finished with it.
My Husband and Other Animals by Janaki Lenin: According to Goodreads this is a collection of stories about the connection between animals and people. Looks really unique and I’m interested to read it.
Maharani by Ruskin Bond: According to Goodreads, it’s a short novella about love, death, and friendship. Ruskin Bond is quite a prolific author so if I love this book then there are plenty more by him!
The Law of Success: Using the Power of Spirit to Create Health, Prosperity, and Happiness by Paramahansa Yogananda: Another book on spirituality by the author of Autobiography of a Yogi. I can’t wait to read this one!
A huge thank you to my boyfriend for bringing me these books! I’m looking forward to discovering more international authors and some hidden gems that aren’t well known in the West.
What books have you read by international authors? Do you have any Indian authors to recommend to me? What books did you receive as presents over the holidays?
